Great Northern Railway

Great Northern Railway (G.N. RAILWAY) running between Rockhampton and Emerald  - which was reached in 1879 - and then extended westwards to Barcaldine, arriving in September 1886

The name Great Northern Railway was eventually applied to the Northern line between Townsville and Richmond, with the original Great Northern Railway then becoming known as the Central Railway around 1909
