Byrnestown post office, 24 km north east of Gayndah, opened in November 1903 and closed on 4 November 1911. Byrnestown Rail post office, 5 km from Byrnestown, opened in mid 1910. It appears that the date stamps from the Byrnestown post office were transferred to the Byrnestown Rail post office as they continued to be used after the Byrnestown post office closed in November 1911.
Manning lists the final Byrnestown date stamp as a type 6t and it also appears that the only example seen by me of a type 6 Byrnestown date stamp is a type 6 with the R.S. portion removed. It is possible that the Byrnestown date stamp seen by Manning is a type 6t while the Byrnestown type 6 shown on this blog page is actually the Byrnestown Rail type 6 that has been altered. To be certain I will need to see a type 6 example from before May 1911
