Hambledon / Hambledon Junction

Hambledon post office, 11 km south of Cairns, opened on 20 April 1899 and closed in 1902 before re-opening in late 1903. It was reduced to a receiving office in October 1904 when the Hambledon Junction receiving office, 3 km to the west, was elevated to a post office. Hambledon was again elevated to a post office in 1913 while the Hambledon Junction post office moved to the railway station and was renamed Edmonton on 22 May 1914
