Nerang post office, 8 km west south west of Southport opened on 1 January 1866 as Nerang Creek. It was renamed Narang Creek later that year before reverting back to Nerang Creek in 1869. The post office then moved to the nearby Nerang Creek Township where it opened on 17 February 1874. It reverted back to Nerang Creek in 1875 and in 1877 was changed to Nerang
