Maryborough QL and numeral 96 duplex cancellers

There are five different Maryborough duplex cancellers, three QL types and two numeral 96 types. They have two small solid squares, two short dashes or a single full stop on either side. The QL duplexes have letter codes and the 96 Duplexes have numeral codes. Maryborough 96 and QL duplex cancels can be distinguished from Maryborough date stamp cancels as follows:

• Solid squares are not found on Maryborough date stamps
• The two short dashes are found on Maryborough date stamps (type 2) and both the Maryborough QL  and 96 duplexes. The QL duplex has letter codes, the type 2 datestamp has numeral codes dated 1868 to 1886 and the 96 duplex from 1903 to 1906
• The single full stop on Maryborough type 3c date stamps and the Maryborough QL duplex type 3 both have letter codes. However the date stamp was used from 1886 to 1897 while the QL Duplex is only known used in 1903
